VENUE: Cosmopolitan French at Rouge

Rouge, chef David Ruggerio's (Calle Nueve, Sushi A Go-Go) latest, is a cosmopolitan French restaurant (think French with international influences) located in a converted Midtown townhouse. Designed by Jack Baum of Tree House Design (he also did Danzon), the space features gold painted wingdings attached to crimson walls in the first floor bar area. The second floor dining room has pale yellow and red walls with gold detailing, and its own fireplace. Greenish gray brocade-covered chairs with a delicate gold scroll pattern are arranged around tables covered with crisp white tablecloths. The main dining room can accommodate 55 seated or 100 for cocktails. A 25-seat private room with the same decor scheme is also available. --Suzanne Ito
