Stylish caterer Peter Callahan showed up recently on My Super Sweet 16, MTV’s reality show that focuses on the preparations of a different teenager’s extravagant birthday party each episode. In addition to appearing as the caterer in this particular installment, Callahan was also the father of guest of honor, his son, Hart. “It was something I did for my 16-year-old son,” Callahan told us last week. “As we got into it I became aware that it was totally going to be targeted to a younger age group, so I didn’t do it as a reflection on me or my business.” He said he hasn’t heard much of a response from his clients (he’s a favorite of Kate Spade). Nor does he expect them to blink at the clip of his son screaming out a friend’s car window that the vehicle cost $400,000, or the tennis-theme party’s price tag of more than $200,000. “It’s MTV,” he said. “The party itself wasn’t flashy given the world I’m in.”
