I am working on an event for a small health club chain. I am planning to tie the event to health and wellness, but I want to put a new spin on it. Any ideas? —Ronald Parrish, freelance planner

Let’s face it: Going to health clubs is good for our health, but getting pampered feels way better than running on the treadmill.

So why don’t you bring in some folks from Sparty or Spa Chicks on-the-Go to provide spa services? They offer a range of treatments from quick manicures to full massages, so you can select what’s right for your budget and time allotment. They can also incorporate corporate themes. If you feel uncomfortable serving booze to your body- and health-conscious guests, why not substitute oxygen instead? Florida-based Airheads manufactures, sells, and rents oxygen and aromatherapy bars. The company can also customize and brand bars for events to make sure your guests don’t forget their host, your client. Another oxygen bar equipment vendor to try is Las Vegas-based Breathe Inc. (pictured). For food, Fancy Girl, Gourmet Gal, and the Cleaver Company are three caterers who cook using sustainable ingredients, and can prepare quality, good-for-you dishes. Hire one of these companies to prepare some light hors d’oeuvres and your guests will feel cleansed and healthy—assuming they resist all the Dunkin’ Donuts they’ll pass on the way home.
