
And addition to the already extensive offerings at the New York Botanical Garden the new Nolen Greenhouses for Living Collections is a massive complex that serves as a center for cultivation and research. Although most of the greenhouse areas are off-limits to the public, the Bourke-Sullivan Display House is open for shows of special plants and offers an opportunity to learn from the garden’s horticulturists. The nearby LuEsther T. Mertz Library is the setting for “Glasshouses: The Architecture of Light and Air” an exhibition of drawings, paintings, prints, and photographs that illustrate the history of glasshouses.
