L.A. Looking for Olympics

While Mayor Michael Bloomberg is waiting until after the mayoral election to announce if New York will make a bid to host the 2016 Olympics, a Los Angeles group is going for it. "This is a city with so many obvious attributes, because of what kind of city it is, the climate, the spirit of the city, " Barry Sanders, the lawyer leading the bid, told The New York Times. "We think Los Angeles was made for the Olympic Games." The United States Olympic Committee—the group that picks an American bid city—has not announced its timetable for selection process.
