Comix, the new 14,000-square-foot comedy club just east of Ninth Avenue, opened last Thursday. The spacious venue has a more modern design than the typical comedy club, with glass and copper accents, marble floors, and a muted color scheme of cream and brown. Within the venue are a 5,000-square-foot 320-seat flexible showroom with an expandable stage, two separate bars, and a 2,000-square-foot kitchen (Katy Sparks of Great Performances is overseeing the menu). SIA Acoustics worked closely with the club to design a fully integrated sound system, and the venue also comes equipped with Wi-Fi multimedia and video capabilities.
