Not only do the employees of media conglomerate Hearst get an impressive two-story waterfall, a 40- by 70-foot installation from artist Richard Long, and an advanced elevator system in the tower designed by architect Lord Norman Foster. Their new building on West 57th Street also includes an entire floor devoted to meetings and private dining. The conference center—on the 44th floor of the 46-story steel and glass tower—offers views of Central Park and the surrounding area through two-story-high floor-to-ceiling glass windows. (And for the green-thinking: The building has been awarded the gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, certifying that the space is as eco-friendly as it is stunning.) Yet while its employees will get to use the floor for meetings, Hearst has no plans to offer the space for external events.
