Exit Art, a nonprofit in Midtown West that exhibits multimedia work from international and national artists, opened an additional space below its 9,000-square-foot ground-floor gallery in early February. This lower level, which has its own street entrance and freight-elevator access, consists of two connected rooms (at 1,500 square feet each) with white walls and concrete floors as well as a 500-square-foot bar. Later this year, Exit Art plans to use the space for performance art and musical presentations as well as digital cinema showcases, eventually adding fixed seating, stages, theatrical lights, and a high-end projection system. —Anna Sekula
