Bruni Rates Room Service

New York Times food critic Frank Bruni doesn’t just review restaurants. This week he takes on hotel room service. Reviewing the in-room preparation, convenience, and, naturally, the food, Bruni visited seven Manhattan hotels served by seven notable restaurants, investigating their claims that they provide a higher level of in-room fare. Coming in at number one is the London NYC, with a selection of high-end nosh from Gordon Ramsay’s in-house restaurant. (This is especially interesting given Bruni’s less-than-glowing two-star review of the London’s eatery. The critic also has nice things to say about his food at the Hotel Gansevoort from Jeffrey Chodorow’s restaurant Ono—although he ranked it near the bottom of his list—which will no doubt add interest to the Bruni-Chodorow feud.) Trump International received a special mention for its private chef service—the dinner was prepared in the kitchenette of Bruni’s hotel suite. If you’re putting up food-finicky guests, it’s worth a read.
