Expanding upon its well-established status as a destination for covetable international design objects, Park Slope’s Matter has upped the ante with a new downtown spot in east SoHo. A minimalist backdrop of wood floors and industrial glass cases showcase exclusive wares from Established & Sons (featuring Zaha Hadid’s Aqua Table), British sensation Thorsten van Elten, and lighting-designer-to-the-stars Kathleen Hills. Proprietor Jamie Gray’s handpicked discoveries—housed in an accessible, gallerylike atmosphere—amplify that while less is often more, beauty and quality is perpetually in the details.
