Southern Wine & Spirits of New York announced plans this week to host the first-ever Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival. Presented by Food & Wine magazine and the Food Network, the three-day event will be held in the meatpacking district over Columbus Day weekend, October 10 to 12.
The event is a spin-off of the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival, which has taken place in Miami for the past eight years. Founder and director Lee Brian Schrager chose New York as host of the new festival as it is “home to some of the best restaurants and chefs in the world,” said Robin Insley, the event's publicist.The festival will launch with a neighborhood block party on Friday night, followed by a grand tasting on Pier 54 on Saturday and Sunday, in addition to wine seminars, book signings, and culinary demonstrations by the likes of Ferran Adrià , Alain Ducasse, Rachael Ray, and Paula Deen.
Last fall, a dessert party dubbed “Sweet” was held in New York as a lead-up to this year’s festival. “Sweet” will make an appearance again this year, this time called “Sweet on Saturday Night,” and will again be hosted by Ferrero Rocher.
Expected ticket prices will range from $35 to $1,000, with a Ducasse/Adrià dinner at Ducasse’s Adour being the most expensive option.
