In honor of its new breakfast issue (and to show off its fancy new test kitchen), Saveur magazine hosted a breakfast for media and food industry folks at its editorial office Tuesday morning. Saveur’s test kitchen staff prepared a buffet featuring international dishes from the issue, including cornflake-crusted French toast, Turkish breakfast, smoked trout hash, and fried egg and merguez sandwiches.
Instead of sending everyone off with just a copy of the issue, Saveur staffers continued the theme and gave out sturdy cardboard boxes filled with an assortment of doughnuts from Doughnut Plant for guests to share with their office buddies, as the attached note instructed. A laminated card inside each box read: “To see the rest of the issue…finish your breakfast.” Polishing off nine doughnuts was no easy task, but underneath lay the magazine in a plastic sleeve as well as a softcover copy of The Donut Book.
