The New York metropolitan chapter of the International Special Events Society (ISES) took members to Park Avenue's new Ikea-style Scandinavia House for a special meeting to install its new slate of officers. More than 70 event pros mingled among rows of chairs set up in Volvo Hall, the second floor reception area that includes access to a terrace. The venue's contract caterer, Aquavit, served hors d'oeuvres and a small buffet with Swedish meatballs and roasted potatoes, and ISES member Daniele Doctorow of Music in the Air provided a pianist.
For the program portion, outgoing president Meryl Hillsberg of Impressive Events spoke about her tenure with the group, member Dianne Devitt of DND Group gave an inspirational speech, and member Jackie Bernstein of Empire Force Events reported on the process of nominating the new officers. The new slate includes president Jane White, president-elect Suzanne Cardinal, membership VP Lois Pierce, education VP Rita DiBella, programs VP Pat Ahaesy, communications VP Jill Cotter, secretary Susan Valentine and treasurer Cara Workman. Cotter also received a special award from the chapter for her work on the group's newsletter.
