Corn-on-the-cob and beer-and-nuts were just two of the odd ice cream flavors offered at the Help Lick Hunger Festival benefit for Rock and Wrap It Up, a nonprofit that picks up food leftover from backstage catering at concerts and special events, and then delivers it to local soup kitchens. (You might consider contacting them about the leftover food at your next event.) Flushing-based ice cream gourmands Max & Mina's brought in a few dozen tasty--if unexpected--treats, including spicy hummus and cola ice cream, as well as more typical flavors like mint chocolate chip.
Eventgoers nibbled the funky flavors while walking through the banquet rooms and the outdoor terrace on the 18th floor of the Gramercy Park Hotel. Among the revelers: Rock and Wrap It Up founder Syd Mandelbaum and executive director Aimee Holtzman, and MTV Networks special event chief Leslie Leventman, who was honored at Rock and Wrap It Up's spring benefit.
