North Face—the rugged retailer associated with athletes who trek the Australian outback—launched its first New York store with an opening party that highlighted the far-off locales that the brand's athletes travel to. Ruder Finn's Lori Zelenko planned the event at the store's home in a building on the Upper West Side and Tomik Productions added bird-of-paradise flowers from Australia to give the decor a nature-friendly feel. DJ Jeannie Hopper spun a mix of beat-heavy world music.
The menu was health-conscious, and Fancy Girl Catering created all-organic hors d'oeuvres. Our favorites: Argentina-inspired roasted squash, corn and pepper empanadas and wild Alaskan salmon skewers with a ginger dip. Cocktails also had nature-friendly flair, like pomegranate martinis and avalanche punch with ginger beer.
