Judging from the tank top-clad beefcake who were slingin' candy-colored drinks behind the bar and passing hors d'oeuvres, the rock bodies at Self magazine and VH1's Rock Bodies event were Match Catering and Eventstyles' caterwaiters. Not that the guests weren't equally toned. Even the event's PR flack, Lizzie Grubman, posed for photographers in front of the branded backdrop after the evening's designated rock body Vanessa Carlton arrived.
Mark Musters of Musters & Company—who seems to be the go-to guy for sponsor-heavy, tastefully branded magazine events—turned the event into a combination of a cocktail party and girls' slumber party, sans sleeping. Musters filled the photo studio and popular event space—also popular with magazines (it recently hosted parties for House & Garden and YM)—with lots of girly diversions. Female guests were treated to blowouts at glam Clairol-sponsored hairstyling stations, and manicurists from Buffspa gave polish color changes using Sally Hanson nail polish. Live models posed on top of elevated platforms clad in Bebe dresses. While sponsor Botox couldn't give out free injections, an informational video about their popular wrinkle-eraser looped on a monitor.
After their hair and nails were done, guests could lounge on Musters' bright pink, yellow and orange lounge furniture, and taste hors d'oeuvres passed by caterwaiters clad in T-shirts from sponsor Legally Blonde 2. This is the second year of the event, which promotes a broadcast special on rock music's best bods on VH1, and a featured insert inside the health and fitness mag.
