While the tech types talked "Wi-Fi" and other techno-speak, we were busy checking out our favorite booth designs at Cebit America, the big tech trade show that made its American debut this month at the Javits Center. (Its parent show in Hannover, Germany, is a seven-day extravaganza, the largest tech trade show in the world.) Our favorite was NTT Docomo's lime green cube—were they in on Sex and the City's color scheme?—which was an eye-grabbing monolith that truly stood out among lesser booths. The corners of the booth showcased the company's line of super high-tech cell phones, and inside the booth, a tube-shaped digital screen played flashy information spots. And even the booth attendants were well turned-out: The women wore fashionable leather skirts and belts and white shirts with pale yellow neck scarves.
Another favorite on the show floor was Siemens' comparatively sprawling display, with white tressing, colorful signage and transparent half-bubble caps suspended over each computer station, designed and built by the Dallas branch of Exhibit Dynamics.
