I need a venue with space to display private jets and luxury cars. Ideas?
There are several smaller airports around the tristate area that have mostly private charter businesses and could fit the bill. Teterboro Airport in Bergen County, New Jersey, has hosted events in its hangars—including a benefit with the New Jersey Symphony—but it will only consider events with guests who have major spending power (and who might be looking for a place to park their private planes, naturally). Furthermore, since Teterboro is part of the Port Authority, be prepared to deal with a lot of red tape if you're doing an event there. Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton has an outside space that can be used for events, and the Long Island Jet Center at the airport also considers requests for events in its hangar.
In Manhattan, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum can display jets on the ship's 900-foot-long flight deck among its collection of vintage and modern planes. (By the way, the facility has great city views and offers food from Catering by Restaurant Associates.) One more thought: If you want an unusual venue in keeping with the transportation theme, John F. Kennedy International airport's massive Terminal 4 has recently been used for events like a Bombay Sapphire party; it includes a substantial art collection and views of all the aircraft outside.
