Magenta searchlights from Westbury National Show Systems caught the attention of passersby for Holt Renfrew's annual holiday season window unveiling at its Bloor Street West store. Janet Eger and Kate Chartrand, director of communications and manager of public relations, respectively, for the high-end retailer, collaborated with Krista Slack of Krista Slack & Associates to organize the event. New York City's famed Radio City Music Hall Rockettes dance troupe and contemporary pop group Philosopher Kings performed on two large outdoor stages that partially blocked traffic on Bloor Street. Mary Pompili, Holt Renfrew's vice president of marketing, said the Rockettes suited the event "because they have been a wonderful holiday tradition for more than three quarters of a century and reflect the magic of the holidays."Cheryl Hickey and Roz Weston of ET Canada shared the M.C. duties, welcoming the public to enjoy the free entertainment, snack on treats in the store and, of course, view the block-long window display. John Gerhardt, Holt Renfrew's director of creative services, based the display on a magical, indulgent dinner-party theme. Drawing inspiration from films such as Grey Gardens and The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, he dressed more than 50 mannequins in fashions from design houses like Dolce & Gabbana and posed them sitting and standing around a long dinner table loaded with food.
Two per cent of the profits made on retail sales during the event went to the Children's Wish Foundation.
