Forget Mister Softee. Indulge guests with the Treats Truck, a cookie jar on wheels. The mobile bakery, which runs on eco-friendly compressed natural gas, has been making stops throughout the city since the beginning of June, selling what owner Kim Ima calls fresh-baked, “not too fancy, always delicious” desserts like chocolate chip cookies, and not-so-classic goodies such as caramel creme sandwich cookies and Mexican chocolate brownies. For special events, Ima rents the fully staffed truck; prices depend on the length and type of event and what's being served, but the base cost for the vehicle starts at $200. Ima can also whip up custom goodie bags and treats in her Red Hook bakery, like the purse-shaped cookies she made for the first annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards, held at the Museum of the City of New York in June.
