Oscar Party Has Social Awareness in Mind

Just around the corner from the Vanity Fair party, the more intimate "Celebration of Artistic Freedom" event at Pearl restaurant—hosted by the city of West Hollywood, Amnesty International, Artists for a new South Africa, and the American Civil Liberties Union—highlighted the year's Oscar-nominated films as well as past socially conscious films. The post-ceremony party had screens placed strategically throughout the nightclub Factory that played a loop of photos from films like Philadelphia and Erin Brockovich, and quotes about art by historic figures including Albert Einstein and Eleanor Roosevelt.
