2. HIGH DIVE INTO HUDSON HERALDS RED BULL EVENT: Although it's not quite the record-breaking feat performed by Felix Baumgartner last year, the energy drink maker's latest stunt was still impressive. Red Bull's international high-diving competition stop in Boston this Sunday, and to mark the occasion, Colombian cliff diver Orlando Duque plunged 75 feet from a helicopter in front of the Statue of Liberty. 3. BURNING MAN'S NO-FLY RULES: The counterculture arts festival held every year in the Black Rock Desert is known as a no-rules event, but this year the organizers have set some guidelines. Unmanned aerial vehicles, referred to by most as drones, are apparently a big nuisance and this year there are safety rules for the use of them during the weeklong event. AUSTIN:  Writer-director Shane Black will serve as the honorary chair of the Austin Film Festival's Film & Food Party. The event, which will kick off the 20th annual festival and conference and benefit the festival's Young Filmmakers program, is October 23 at Driskill Hotel.

BOSTON:  HubSpot's Inbound 13 conference, held August 19 through today at the Hynes Convention Center, is expected to see nearly 5,000 guests this year—almost double compared to last year's attendance. Geared at marketing and technology, the conference plans to move next year to the larger Boston Convention and Exhibit Center.

Richard Bussiere is the new managing director of the Langham, Boston hotel.

CHICAGO:   The Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park has completed a $2.5 million renovation of its meeting space. The hotel's 63,000 square feet of meeting space includes 15 meeting rooms that range from 400 to 16,000 square feet, and updates include eco-friendly furnishings.

Blackfinn Ameripub will open in River North in September. The American eatery, which has menu items such as fish tacos and chicken-and-avocado chopped salad, is 11,000 square feet. It has a 230-seat pub, a 173-seat dining room, and a 60-seat patio.

LAS VEGAS:  Chef Giada De Laurentiis is planning to open her first restaurant in early 2014 in conjunction with the opening of the Gansevoort Las Vegas hotel and casino. Located on the second level of the property, the eatery will have room for nearly 300 people, offer alfresco dining, and serve De Laurentiis’s California-influenced Italian cuisine.

LOS ANGELES:  The Hollywood Film Awards will honor producer Jerry Weintraub with the first Hollywood Legend Award at the gala ceremony on October 21 at the Beverly Hilton.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA:  Sweat USA, billed as the nation's first all-star fitness festival, will make its debut at the Miami Beach Convention Center October 11-13. The weekend-long event will include an expo of health and fitness brands as well as morning and afternoon workout sessions. The show will also feature TV personalities and celebrity trainers like Jillian Michaels.

A partnership between the Zoological Society of Florida and the West Kendall Baptist Hospital will bring a 5K race to Zoo Miami on September 15. http://run.zoomiami.org

Sky Zone Fort Lauderdale, an indoor trampoline park, is slated to open in November. The 27,000-square-foot, climate-controlled park is available for private rental for teambuilding or other events.

NEW YORK:  Marketing expert John Moore will be a keynote speaker at the Tri-State Food Expo, a trade-only event for the retail and food service industry, October 1-2 at the Meadowlands Expo Center.

City Winery—the concert hall, winery, and event space that originally debuted in New York in 2009 and opened a Chicago outpost last August—announced a planned expansion into California and Tennessee. The venue brand has signed a long-term lease for the historic Napa Valley Opera House and has plans to purchase a building in downtown Nashville.

Oysters XO, a catering service that has staffers offering guests hand-shucked oysters from buckets around their waist, is continuing its expansion: The company now services Philadelphia.

ORLANDO:  The Festival of Bacon, October 5 in Festival Park, will celebrate "all things covered, wrapped, and smothered in bacon." The new event will include live music and food from more than 30 vendors such as Sonoma Draught House, Citrus, Beth's Burger Bar, and the Hammered Lamb.

SAN FRANCISCO:  The VH1 Save the Music Foundation's Noteworthy concert is scheduled for September 12 at the William Hill Estate Winery in Napa. Country folk duo Court Yard Hounds will headline.

WASHINGTON:  On November 11, the 10th anniversary of DC Central Kitchen's Capital Food Fight fund-raiser will include chefs Tom Colicchio, Rick Bayless, and Todd English as judges. The Walmart-sponsored event will be hosted by Jose Andres and Carla Hall and held at the Ronald Reagan Building.
