Inn at Little Washington Opens First Event Space

Walter Nicholls
November 18, 2008

Patrick O'Connell, the chef and owner of the Inn at Little Washington, in Washington, Virginia, expanded the venue's capabilites in late October with the addition of an event space called the Ballroom. Located across the street from the inn in a restored 18th century building that also houses the Tavern Shops, the intimate room can seat 36 for dinner or 30 for a boardroom meeting.

Hand-painted wallpaper depicting finely detailed birds and a trellised ceiling painted with a trompe l'oeil sky give the space the feel of a Chinese garden pavilion. A large, smoky mirror conceals a 64-inch flat screen TV and DVD system. For larger events, three sets of French doors open onto a columned veranda and a 15-acre lawn, more than ample for one or more tents.
