Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown

In March, Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown unveiled the Nearest Green Suite in collaboration with Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey. The inspiration for the suite comes from the story of Nearest Green, the formerly enslaved African American master distiller who taught his process to Jack Daniel, founder of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey Distillery. Green was hired as the first master distiller for Jack Daniel's distillery, making him the first African American distiller on record in the U.S. Fairmont collaborated with Uncle Nearest's founder and CEO, Fawn Weaver, and Green’s great-great-granddaughter and Uncle Nearest master blender Victoria Eady Butler on the concept for the suite. It is located on the hotel’s Fairmont Gold Floor, spans 1,500 square feet, and overlooks the property's courtyard garden.
