News about Fashion Week just keeps rolling in: Yesterday came the announcement that New York Fashion Week will shift from the first Friday of the month to the second Thursday. According to WWD, this decision was made by executives from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, IMG Fashion, and the Fashion Calendar. The date change will come into effect after February's run of shows—scheduled for Friday, February 13 through Friday, February 20.

Additionally, the CFDA is suggesting alternative options for the upcoming season. "Particularly with the economy, we thought, 'Is there a different way during Fashion Week that designers can show their collections, that makes it more organized and structured for poeple who go to shows, and is there a way designers can perhaps spend less money?'" said CFDA executive director Steven Kolb. Ideas include designers sharing the same time slot and/or adopting a presentation format. Adding to this, IMG Fashion is also looking into an additional venue outside the Bryant Park tents.
