For the NBC Universal Golden Globes party, designer-producer Angel City Designs used a palette of blue hues, paired with gold and chartreuse accents. Large ellipse lighting elements in two sizes illuminated both the dining area and vintage-style velvet lounge furniture groupings.

A 20-foot-high truss structure at one end of the tent opposite the entrance showcased an LED video wall where guests could watch the broadcast of the show. Around the perimeter were 50-inch plasma screens for additional viewing opportunities.

The Art of Elysium hosted its eighth annual Heaven Gala, presented by Samsung, at Hangar 8 on Saturday. Marina Abramović was the creative force behind this year's event, creating an experience based on her concept of heaven as a state of consciousness where light and dark meet.

Tony Schubert and Event Eleven again designed and produced the Audi party, this year incorporating themes of mid-century modern and abstract art. Decor had a palette of black, white, and grey with pops of yellow.

The 390 guests at Thakoon's fall show, held February 15 at Stage37, were greeted by what was described as "a physical manifestation of the Northern Lights." For the Dizon Inc.-produced outing, set designer Jonathon Beck used a new 3M material called Dichroic glass film that, when placed in specific angles, revealed a stunning reflection of the entire color spectrum of light. The abstract light refractions juxtaposed strikingly against an otherwise all-black venue, providing extra impact for the designer's collection.

Pallet chairs from Dublin company This Is What We Do were one of the seating options in the Media Village at Web Summit in November 2014.


At Cisco Live in San Francisco in May, attendees reclined on beanbag gaming chairs in the halls of the Moscone Center to watch keynotes, do work, and take breaks. Organizers said they chose this style chair as an "edgier but still functional" alternative to traditional beanbags.


The check-in area at Turner's 2010 upfront in New York included cut-outs in the walls and 3-D logos on pedestals. David Stark handled decor.



Spanish gin brand Gin Mare celebrated its U.S. launch by bringing its international Med Rooftops series to Ramscale Studios in New York on June 10. Designed by BMF Media Group, a wall of wooden crates showcased the bottles paired with fruit and greenery. The giant installation also served as an unconventional step-and-repeat.

The welcome counter at the front of the large Quiksilver booth was made from stacks of palettes topped with glass to create a display case.

Near the new kayak and canoe section of the show floor, organizers created the Paddle Lounge, with colorful coolers functioning as the base for the bar that served coffee from Commune & Co.

Fusion, a first-time exhibitor at the show, covered the floor of its booth with images of surf and sand printed on vinyl, similar to what is used to create billboards. The company was featuring its new watersport stereo and wanted to simulate the environment where it is used.

Organizers used a mix of textures and styles to create a comfortable lounge in the heart of the show’s surf area. Known as the Neighborhood, the section included brands focused on surf, travel, and adventure

California-based summer lifestyle company Funboy offers a variety of trendy floats, including a red lips float, $79. Floats ship worldwide.

For a budget option, pool float company GoFloats offers a festive unicorn float on Amazon, with the price starting at $20.

Another animal option is a monarch butterfly float, $50, which has cupholders built into the wings.


Hosted by the Points Guy Brian Kelly, the January 23 event allowed guests to explore the travel website’s top destinations for 2018: Morocco, Iceland, India, and Mexico City. The audiovisual journey, which was produced by creative agency Fake Love, transported guests to each locale without leaving the space. Every 30 minutes, the room transformed into a new destination, with wrap-around projections and music depicting each culture. The event was held at Public Arts on the Lower East Side.

London artist JGoldcrown created one of his signature heart-adorned paintings for a photo backdrop at the Republic Records pre-Grammy party, which was hosted in partnership with Cadillac, Barclays Center, and Ciroc at Cadillac House on January 26. Attendees included Lorde, Julia Michaels, Hailee Steinfeld, James Bay, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Hailee Baldwin, and others.
