
The gala’s cocktail reception featured a turf carpet in lieu of a traditional red carpet. A silent auction included dog and cat beds created by Toronto designers.

The event served an on-theme cocktail called the Greyhound, consisting of Titos Vodka, grapefruit juice, and a lemon or lime wedge. The cocktail and wine menu was placed next to wheatgrass centerpieces.

“Dining tables were dressed in green, but they were made with sequins, so they sparkled when the pin spots turned on,” said Roick. “We used traditional chandeliers overhead, but hung tendrils of ivy and greens reminiscent of a weeping willow.”

Tables featured bedazzled dog centerpieces that rotated. The centerpieces were also auctioned off to the highest bidders and included restaurant vouchers.

The menu cards at each table featured a photo of a pet submitted by the table purchaser or a sponsor.
