Banana Republic held a simple cocktail party to kick off the summer season at Glass, a still nopened--and unfinished--Chelsea lounge. On this warm spring evening, most guests crowded the venue's back patio area, where DJ Jus Ske played a mix of 80's music and bartenders served caipirinhas, wine and champagne.
Representatives from Banana Republic gave each guest a sarong from the store's new line. But the biggest benefit for the crowd of young fashion and retail types was probably being among the first people to see the new space, which won't open to the public for at least a month and a half. The inside lounge area has a mod look, with a white curved ceiling and a bar on one side and seating on the other. (Events are being booked through Deborah Hughes Inc.)
