Here are the winners of BiZBash's first Event Style Awards, which were presented at our Spring Awakening networking event on March 26:
Best Invitation Design
Creative Intelligence, for Organic Style magazine's advertiser launch party
Marc Friedland and his team designed this invitation to reflect the new magazine's take on stylish, organic living, and to move past the image of a magazine for so-called "crunchy granola" types. The card was made with chartreuse raw silk embroidered with the word "celebrate" in fuschia on one side, with the event's details printed on the back. The pretty, original invites introduced guests to the concept of the new product as well as the feel of the event.
Best Fresh Idea
M. Young Communications, for NYC & Company's Restaurant Day and Week kickoff
When planning the launch of the New York restaurant community's seasonal promotion, Melanie Young and her team took inspiration from another city event, the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square. In their version, a giant, 300-pound lemon made of 700 real lemons was lowered from a 30-food crane into Duffy Square, and 11 chefs served lemonade to the press and public. The fun, original event combined elements from both the city and the season, and garnered press mentions in publications including The New York Post, Newsweek and USA Today.

Best Food Presentation
Dorothee Selz and Seventh House PR, for the Felissimo Design House store opening
This is probably the most unique catering concept we've ever seen: Instead of waiting for waiters to come by with food, guests could pick hors d'oeuvres right from the wall of the venue, where French artist Dorothee Selz designed a special installation. She put food items including sushi rolls, vegetables and pasta on wooden skewers, and stuck the skewers into large Styrofoam circles mounted on the wall. The clever idea surprised guests and added to the arty, design-focused feel of the party.
