A night in Havana—sans Fidel Castro and Cuban cigars—was the theme for this year's Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS' (Diffa) Viva Glam Casino benefit. As it has for the past three years, M.A.C. cosmetics sponsored the benefit, which took over the Copacabana with David Beahm's decor and a bevy of supermodels and celebs who gambled with "Diffa dollars" for prizes from designer donors like Marc Jacobs and Betsey Johnson. The event raised $300,000 for Diffa.
Beahm accented the Copa's pink decor with shiny pink and mango-colored table linens from Resource One on cocktail and buffet tables. Tall vases filled with oranges, cymbidium orchids and giant monstera leaves stood on the buffet tables. Small cocktail table centerpieces had more cymbidium orchids and velvety coxcomb in pink vases. A giant palm tree wrapped with oranges stood in the center of the dance floor, in front of a Viva Glam sign in flashing lights at center stage. Plants, some rented from Border Ridge Plant Services, filled the room for a lush look. Prize tables were covered with Beahm's animal print cloths. Minnesota Fats provided the casino tables and black vest-clad dealers.
