L.A. HBO Premiere Channels 60's Palms Springs

To debut the second season of Entourage, the cable network gave the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel a mod makeover.

February 23, 2006
The famed Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel was the stylish locale for the second season premiere of Entourage, HBO’s dramedy about the life of a hot, young actor and his tagalong pals living it up in Los Angeles. Following the screening at the El Capitan, the show’s stars Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven, Debi Mazar and guests took a short walk to the Spanish Colonial-style hotel for the after-party.
HBO vice president of special events Lauren McMahon worked with event guru Billy Butchkavitz to throw a 1960’s-style Palm Springs revival around the Roosevelt’s pool and two floors of guest rooms.

Butchkavitz brought in chic tables and chairs and replicas of lamps and vases from the 60’s to enhance the old Hollywood-inspired setting. Suspended over the hotel’s grandiose Olympic pool, a 31-foot-long and 8-foot-wide plexiglass bridge beckoned guests to walk on water. The Entourage logo was projected onto the floor of the pool and on the wall above the main bar.

Orange colored the evening, from spotlights to linens. Small orange serving trays filled with fire marshal-friendly LED candles emitted a warm glow on bar tables surrounding the pool, while pumpkin-hued florals like proteas, vanda orchids, and birds of paradise comprised centerpieces.

Upon arrival, guests received a party guide directing them to hotel rooms and cabanas, which were turned into activity areas for psychic and tarot card readings, manicures, tattoos, photo ops, and games. Guests could help themselves to a Continental dinner, though the full-service sushi bars seemed more popular.

As the evening ended, partygoers left with gift bags of goodies like Entourage’s first season on DVD and the movie-trivia game Scene It.
