Nightspot of the moment the Manor received an animal-print makeover courtesy of Just Cavalli and Teen Vogue's Summer Fashion Fete, where a crowd of twentysomething actors, designers, and reality stars mingled with the man of the hour, Italian designer Roberto Cavalli. The event, which was organized by Just Cavalli's PR manager, Callae Brownstein, marked the label's first-ever party held in New York and promoted its spring/summer 2006 collection.Cavalli's signature "Bora Bora" zebra print was splashed on benches, pillows, and draping throughout the club (housed in the former Pink Elephant space), thanks to Cavalli's in-house visual coordinator, Ivan Luciani, who also peppered the space with dozens of glowing candles. Porta Fiori Floral Design Studio owner George Vallo created three-foot-tall, orange- and red-hued floral arrangements, which contained a menagerie of heliconia, star of India, birds of paradise, pincushions, calla lilies, orchids, palms, and tall bamboo sticks. The arrangement vases were encased in banana leaves and raffia. The bar, which was also draped in Bora Bora fabric, served Roberto Cavalli Vodka drinks throughout the night.
Teen Vogue special events director Lindsay Rubin hired celebrity wrangling firm Flying Television, which successfully lured the likes of designer Zac Posen, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy's Carson Kressley, actress Zoe Saldana, and recent American Idol castoff Kelly Pickler to the party. Celebrities and regulars alike were entertained by DJ Sky Nellor's sound track and received gift bags containing a Just Cavalli scarf, a beach towel, fragrance, and a belt; bronzer by Tarte cosmetics; and hair care products from Jonathan Product.
