For Hugo Boss' Toronto International Film Festival after-party for Stranger than Fiction, the retailer turned its flagship Yorkville store into a bakery. The goal was to reference the film, which features a subplot involving a bakery, said Dawn Bellini, Hugo Boss' director of public relation and marketing. "We wanted guests to feel like they were participating in small way in the film, and it also gave us the opportunity to give them amazing treats to take home."Bellini tapped McNabb Roick Events to design the event and Overcat Communications to handle public relations. Eat My Words supplied bakery services, while Eatertainment created the passed hors d'oeuvres menu. McNabb Roick created a space called Uprising Bakery after the bakery in the film. Cupcakes topped by icing-sugar flowers filled revolving displays on a glass counter.. White linen covered the caf? tables, while black seat cushions decorated the accompany ghost chairs. The film's main character, played by actor Will Ferrell, eats unripe green apples. In a nod to this unusual food preference, McNabb Roick supplied centerpieces decorated with the green fruit. As a final touch, bags stenciled with the word "FLOUR" hung from the two-story ceiling.
Throughout the evening, caterwaiters from the Butler Did It passed hors d'oeuvres such as spice-crusted tuna lollipops with tamari soy dip, mini salmon sushi pizza, and honeydew cups filled with watermelon gazpacho. Theme food stations served Moroccan, Asian, and Thai fare, with the latter offering Thai chicken and crispy salmon skewers with vegetable risotto. In another area of the store, Coastline Catering served freshly shucked oysters.
Out on the patio, Martini Club supplied an ice bar and served cocktails. Chrome accents jazzed up the black leather lounge chairs and sofas provided for smokers and others to sit and relax. Oversized black cocktail tables topped by more of the green-apple centerpieces completed the setting.
