The second-annual Little Sweetheart Ball featured an Italian theme, inspired by its move to the Vespa Canada showroom. The fund-raiser, established by Rethink Breast Cancer to raise money for new moms with breast cancer, targets upscale parents with young children. Rethink's executive director MJ DeCoteau worked with designer and TV personality Lisa North to decorate the space in the style of an Italian town square. An open area in the centre provided room for a Baby Gap fashion show and dancing. Around the perimeter, a host of activity stations kept the kids busy. Canadian Family Magazine-sponsored a Play-Doh station, where kids built a mini Leaning Tower of Pisa; and other activities included a cookie decorating station from Sweetmama.ca; a supervised play and climbing zone with the latest in educational toys and climbing apparatus from Mastermind Toys; and a rock music centre with instruments and rock-star costumes from Tundra Music. Following the fashion show, Bunch Family organized a dance party led by DJs DJ Fase and Phat Al.
While the children entertained themselves, the adults dined on Italian fare from Alice Fazooli's, Brasserie, and Far Niente. They also participated in a silent auction featuring a children's Pro Chef Kitchen from Pottery Barn Kids, an Urban Double stroller from Mountain Buggy, and a Sleepytime Rocker from Nurseryworks.
"Little Sweetheart Ball was created to allow parents to mix and participate in unique activities with their kids," noted DeCoteau. Liz West, a young mom and entertainment reporter with Star! Daily and other CHUM programs, was the M.C.
