Fund-Raising Fiesta

Para Los Niños channeled the traditional mariachi ballad "Cielito Lindo" when creating the theme for its 11th annual Cinco de Mayo celebration, which raised more than $630,000 toward the nonprofit’s programs for impoverished children and families. The song (the title means “pretty little heaven” in Spanish) was incorporated into the decor by Edgar Zamora of Revelry Designs, who volunteered his services for the May 4 event, and worked with the organization’s director of special events, Evelyn Ramirez-Schultz.The heavenly theme took over the historic Gilmore Adobe's three garden spaces with a predominantly white color scheme accented with touches of blue. The main garden featured cabanas draped in white fabric, tables dressed in white linens, and aqua uplighting throughout the outdoor space.

Cloud gobos decorated the dance floor, and female servers dressed in white and sporting angel wings offered guests blue cotton candy. Less innocent treats were available in the neighboring “heavenly garden,” where guests could stop by wine- and tequila-tasting stations, as well as an espresso bar. Servers wearing sombreros also circulated the venue, tempting guests with tequila shots.
