Holt Renfrew’s flagship store on Bloor Street West hosted the launch of Sienna and Savannah Miller’s Twenty8Twelve label in Canada. Planned by Holt Renfrew director of events Gwen Gibson, the star-studded bash featured a vintage circus theme that played on Twenty8Twelve’s positioning as a contemporary brand combining time-honored tailoring techniques with a vintage feel. The Miller sisters were joined at the event by a bevy of celebrities in town for the Toronto International Film Festival. Holt Renfrew public relations manager Kate Chartrand and communications director Janet Eger successfully wrangled the likes of Liv Tyler, Josh Brolin, Diane Lane, and Scott Speedman to their fashion-forward shindig.
Guests traversed an Academy Awards-style red carpet to enter the department store, where interior designer Nicholas Pinney, of Nicholas Pinney Designs, in an admirable feat of design engineering, had installed a massive, faux big-top circus on the third floor. Pinny used the escalator to hoist the circus’ heavy wooden structural components, including several classic animal cages, up from the ground level. Past events at Holt Renfrew have spread out across all three floors. Gibson said the decision to focus the gathering on a single level resulted in “a true party atmosphere and one of the best events we have ever hosted.”In the centre of the room, a huge satellite bar sponsored by Gray Goose dispensed beverages to complement the tasty treats prepared by Corbin Tomaszeski, Holt’s Café’s executive chef. Lush, floor-to-ceiling red velour curtains from Furnishings by Corey and old-fashioned seating from Chair-man Mills furnished lounge spaces, accented with red lighting by Holt Renfrew’s in-house lighting team. Zero Gravity Circus Productions spiced up the dance area with nude painted models, while Pinney added a surrealist note to the affair by suspending nude aerialist mannequins on ropes hung from the ceiling.
