Halloween came a bit early to Miami this year, when Vizcaya Museum and Gardens kicked off the holiday for more than 2,000 eventgoers at the property's annual Halloween Sundowner on October 27.
Nacho Libre, Alice in Wonderland, Catwoman, Greek gods, and more were all in attendance for the festivities. As guests arrived, they walked the long, dark driveway entrance, which was lined with coffins, skeletons, and other creepy crawlers created by the Vizcayans decoration committees. The main house was lit with purple, orange, green, and blue lighting with spider webs projected on it evoking the haunted atmosphere.Inside, guests mingled in the enclosed courtyard before making their way outside to the center of the party. Outside, there were multiple bars where guests could choose their favorite libations. Both Amstel Light and Ketel One were served at ice bars provided by So Cool Events and Iceculture Inc, the Toronto-based ice bar supplier for Ketel One. On the main stage, ESQ, a lively cover band, performed throughout the evening as guests sang along and danced the night away.
In the gardens, tents were set up with professional makeup artists providing face painting for guests. For those arrived with their makeup complete, tarot card and palm readers were available to offer revelers a glimpse into their futures. A grim reaper was also on hand throughout the night to take guests on tours of the ghostly gardens.
Toward the end of the evening, guests gathered at the main stage for the costume contest. With so many creatively costumed guests to choose from, the decision wasn't an easy one for judges. In the end, the winners were a group of five friends who wore elaborate homemade costumes and headdresses.
