Maroline Distributing Ltd. unveiled its new appliance showroom on King Street East Wednesday with a cocktail party for 250 guests, including local developers, architects, and designers. The 4,000-square-foot fire-and-ice themed space—designed by Elaine Cecconi of Cecconi Simone Inc.—showcases Sub-Zero’s line of refrigeration appliances and Wolf’s line of cooktops and ranges in a series of traditional and modern vignettes.
“The concept of the space was really to allow us to speak to our customer, and tonight we want to launch to our trade partners,” said David Amiel, vice president of sales and marketing for Maroline Distributing Inc., who called on Praxis PR to plan the reception. “We want our customer to feel comfortable to bring their clients in to feel and touch the products.”
Cecconi used red and blue to define the fire-and-ice theme in the open-concept space. Wolf’s cooking appliances are showcased in an area with oversize Carrera marble tiles, red hand-blown glass light sculptures, and red glass walls. On the opposite side of the room, blue glass highlights the area featuring Sub-Zero’s refrigeration line.
An oversize Corian bar and meeting table, which will be used for entertaining within the space, is a feature of the main kitchen layout at the front of the showroom. A lounge featuring Minotti furniture and a Lolli e Memmoli chandelier showcases Sub-Zero wine refrigerators. The showroom also has an all-white boardroom and a full catering kitchen to accommodate private events for customers, Amiel said.
On Wednesday, chef Neal Noble of Noble Culinary Creations Catering used the kitchen to cater the launch. Noble served a selection of Asian-inspired hors d’oeuvres such as Peking duck tacos with rice-wine cucumber, green scallion, red peppers, hoisin chutney, and pea sprouts and handmade steamed scallop bok choy seasoned with soy.
