In April, Hotel Felix opened on the border of River North and the Gold Coast. The boutique property overtook a 1920s building and, after a $50 million renovation, is awaiting its certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The hotel's eco-friendly features include motion sensors that control heat in each guest room, recycled flooring, and green cleaning products.
On a mezzanine level overlooking the main lobby, two meeting rooms, Brook and Terra, offer classroom-style seating for 24 and 28. On the first floor, a third meeting room, called Jade, can seat 24 or host banquets for groups of 30. The hotel also has a full-service business center, breakout space, and a louge area on the mezzanine.
Some 225 guest rooms each offer wireless Internet, iPod and iPhone docks, and 32-inch flat-screen TVs. Bathrooms are stocked with rainfall shower heads and H20 Plus products. Other features of the property include a spa with three treatment rooms; and Elate, a contemporary American restaurant, is scheduled to open later this summer.
