Hotel Breakwater, which had a soft opening in July, unveiled its 40-foot-long aquarium-style pool, marking the end of the hotel's $20 million renovation and reopening January 6. Hotel owners tapped New York-based Stephen B. Jacobs to refresh the Art Deco property, which had originally been built in the 1930s by Yugoslavian-born architect Anton Skislewicz.
The Ocean Drive hotel has 100 guest rooms including 14 penthouses with modern furnishings and fabrics and a color palette that includes blues and light greens. Spaces like the 980-square-foot Edison penthouse can hold up to 80 people for a product launch or other intimate events. Some penthouses have living rooms and terraces while others also have private plunge pools.
The hotel has various spaces for hosting events. The 2,200-square-foot Intimissi Lounge is an intimate rooftop setting with daybeds, plush love seats, and views of the Atlantic Ocean. The deck is lit with both candlelight and soft lighting, and can accommodate 98 for a reception. Two floors below, the poolside area known as the Wellness Garden can hold 50 people within its 500 square feet of space. It has cabanas and a floating lap pool, along with lounge service for guests including a butlered Internet lounge. The renovated 3,000-square-foot lobby can also accommodate up to 200 for an event.
On site, there is European-American restaurant Nine. The casual space has indoor and outdoor seating, fitting for drinks with clients, and an organic menu with pastas, local seafood, and chicken dishes.
