Mindy Weiss Transforms Local Market

Planner and designer Mindy Weiss has purchased the Owen's Market in Beverly Hills and will turn it into a market for gourmet goods, organic fruits and produce, choice butcher meats, ready-made food items, fresh-cut flowers, and wine and spirits. She's making deals with the caterers, florists, and other vendors she works with for events and weddings to place their goods in the store. (Some of Weiss's clients include the annual Carousel Ball and Target.)

Since 1957, Owen's Market has been a neighborhood staple for Westsiders, and although it changed hands several times over the years, it was known for its delivery service. "I grew up shopping at Owen's and it was a very special place," Weiss says. "It's been a dream of mine for years to bring back the familiarity, the quality, and the ease of shopping at this neighborhood market."

The market is closed until October, when a new French country look will be unveiled.
