To decorate Vanderbilt Hall inside Grand Central Terminal for Brides magazine's Cakewalk at Grand Central showcase of 60 designer wedding cakes, Geoff Howell of Geoff Howell Studio created a giant tiered cake out of 4,000 champagne flutes—a nod to event sponsor Martini & Rossi. Quilted satin draped with strings of Swarovski crystals covered the base of the cake. The matrimony mag's editor in chief, Millie Martini Bratten, hosted the three-day public event, which offered commuters tastings of sparkling wine, petits fours from the Glazier Group, and the chance to view some lavish and fanciful cake designs from confectioners from around the country.
