In early May, AMF debuted an upscale bowling facility, 300 New York, replacing its original alley at Chelsea Piers. In the revamped digs, with sleeker, more modern furnishings and an Xtreme light and sound system—technology that combines music, low overhead lighting, black light, and video graphics on the panels over the lanes—the venue feels more like a nightclub than a regular alley.
Other upgrades include custom fittings for balls and shoes as well as staffing to provide lane-side scoring and to serve food and drinks. A new menu runs the gamut from breakfast sandwiches, barbecue buffets, and buckets of beer to chef stations, custom platters, and cocktails. The 50,000-square-foot space (with a capacity of 450 seated or 750 for receptions) has eight private lanes, three meeting rooms, and a lounge that holds as many as 125 guests.
