5 New In-Office Catering Options in New York

Lisa Cericola
October 27, 2010

Here are five restaurants that deliver a range of food options for working lunches or staff celebrations.

1. For fried chicken: Starting in November, Hill Country Chicken (the offshoot of barbecue-centric Hill Country) will begin delivering its fried chicken, along with side dishes such as cheesy-fried mashed potatoes, French fries, and coleslaw. Salads and sandwiches are also available, including the Texas Hand Roll, which can be made with fried chicken or avocado. Homemade pies, including apple-cheddar, double cherry, and banana cream, are $40 each, or $3 for a three-inch "pie cup."

2. For hummus platters and wraps: Nanoosh is a "Mediterranean hummus bar" that also serves wrap sandwiches and salads. For large groups, the restaurant will set up hummus plates with pita bread and toppings such as sun-dried tomato pesto or ground beef. Pricing starts at $7.25 per person. For $14.95 a person, Nanoosh will include a wrap, side of salad and hummus, and a dessert, such as rice pudding or honey-and-walnut yogurt. With four separate locations, delivery is available throughout Midtown, the Union Square area, and the Upper West Side.

3. For sandwiches and salads: 'wichcraft's mini empire keeps expanding. Two new locations have opened in the past few months, one in the Starrett-Lehigh Building on 26th Street and 11th Avenue, and another in Kips Bay on East 29th Street near First Avenue. Both outposts deliver 'wichcraft's standard menu of sandwiches, soups, salads, and sweets.

4. For more unusual sandwiches: Num Pang makes its namesake Cambodian-style sandwiches, which are served on baguettes with fillings such as peppercorn catfish, coconut tiger shrimp, and grilled skirt steak. Pricing starts at $6.75 per sandwich. Side dishes include grilled corn on the cob and other seasonal salads and soups. The restaurant is in Union Square, and delivery is available between 4th Street and 21st Street and Second Avenue and Seventh Avenue.

5. For steak: Tri Tip Grill offers its namesake cut of beef in a variety of offerings. Sandwiches, including the Roadhouse Buck (beef with crispy onions, red ranch sauce, and blue cheese) start at $66 and serve 10 people. Salad bowls serve eight to 10 people and range from $30 to $40. Or, for a heartier meal, platters come with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, and a choice of entrée ranging from grilled salmon to a tri-tip and chicken combo. Pricing starts at $13 per person. Delivery is available within an eight-block radius of Rockefeller Center, where the restaurant is located. One day's notice and a minimum order of $100 are required.
