The New York International Auto Show opened on April 18 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Audi got a jump-start on its competitors by hosting a launch on April 3 in New York and Los Angeles. The centerpiece of the program? A holographic duet between rapper M.I.A. and R&B singer Janelle Monaé. Produced by MKG, the simultaneous events were intended to build buzz with the target audience—young, first-time luxury buyers who are design conscious—and highlight the technologically advanced features of the new Audi A3 sedan.

Land Rover unveiled its latest vehicle with a buzzy event on the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York on April 14. Following check-in, guests arrived onto the ship via a long hallway decorated and lit to resemble outer space—fitting, given the evening's "New Age of Discovery" theme.

The Royal Ontario Museum’s “Forbidden Prom” took place at the cultural institution on March 29. To remember the evening, guests were invited to snap portraits in the Kim Crawford Wine "Selfie Station." Guests could pose with props including butterfly headbands as well as horse heads that nodded to the current Year of the Horse.

Part of the experience at the annual AIPAC Policy Conference is training attendees to lobby members of Congress. At this year's event, held March 1 to 4 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, attendees practiced in a much more realistic setting: a mock congressional office that was a scaled replica of the Oval Office. Hargrove, general contractor on the conference for more than a decade, created the space.

An event promoting the new Farm Heroes Saga game combined farming and mobile apps by planting a pop-up farm in Manhattan on April 9. Open to the public, the event at Flatiron Plaza had hands-on urban farming workshops, inviting the public to pot plants or create terrariums. The terrariums contained mini versions of the game's characters, which are called Cropsies.

Appetizers hung from parasols at a recent baby shower in Chicago. Planned by A Perfect Event and with catering from Truffleberry Market, the event had servers circulating with snacks hanging from hooks on the paper umbrella. Sparkly blue raindrops hung amid the hors d'oeuvres, along with a sign that read: “Just a sprinkle of chicken-lettuce wraps.”

Earlier this month, Neiman Marcus and Mattel Children’s Hospital U.C.L.A. hosted a cake-centric reception in Beverly Hills to celebrate money raised for the hospital at the Kaleidoscope Ball, as well as the 30th anniversary of the retailer's InCircle loyalty program. The event partnered with top local pastry chefs to create cakes inspired by local landmarks. The showcase included a replica of the Beverly Hills Hotel, courtesy of the hotel's pastry team.

The Model Beach Volleyball Tournament, which returned to South Beach in February, offered more festive ideas for beach fetes. The free public competition drew coed teams from modeling agencies in Miami for the two-day event, which saw models dressed head to toe by sponsor Wildfox Couture. Organizers even worked the clothing company's logo into the design of the tournament's net.
