Academy Previews Emmy Ball

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences unveiled its battle plan for the Governors Ball celebrating the 58th annual Primetime Emmy awards at the Shrine Auditorium on August 27. At a breakfast press conference this week, the academy plied media with champagne and chocolates, while displaying a sampling of the peppermint pink-and-sage confection that will “evoke a cool southern California garden in the summer,” in the words of Governor’s Ball committee chair Jeannie Gunn.

Set decorator Dwight Jackson designed the “moonlight and romance” themed event, tipping his hat to his inspiration, midcentury interior designer Dorothy Draper. Pulling it all together will be Cheryl Cecchetto’s Sequoia Productions, back for the ninth consecutive year. Other vendors include Patina Catering, Mark’s Garden, Classic Party Rentals, Images by Lighting, Unique Tabletop Rentals, and Chameleon Chairs.
