




The long-running festival made its United States debut in Las Vegas on May 15 and 16. Three so-called Rock Streets, lanes with storefront façades and three-dimensional decor, have themes inspired by Brazil, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The Rock Streets offer street food, cultural offerings, and performances from the likes of Spock Frevo Orquestra, the Street Dance Crew, and Pepeu Gomes.

At a sweet sixteen party produced by Magnolia Bluebird Design & Events, a hot chocolate to-go wall featuring custom mugs, gourmet marshmallows, and milk chocolate hot cocoa allowed partygoers to leave the sweet sixteen with a sweet treat.


The world premiere of the George Clooney picture Tomorrowland took place at Disneyland on May 9. A stilt walker outfitted in a balloon spaceship greeted fans.

The gala was held at Rosen Shingle Creek on May 16. Pastry chefs at the venue created a fitting dessert for a fashion show—milk chocolate shoes filled with fresh fruit and macarons.

Ladyfingers Letterpress created a book-like baby shower invitation with quotes and sentiments from the mommy-to-be’s favorite children’s stories. The cover was hand-sewn with gray-and-white baker’s twine, and a library card served as the R.S.V.P. card. Guests were encouraged to bring their favorite children’s book to help build the little one’s reading library.


On May 20, Pepsi launched its new "Limon"-flavored soft drink with a festive event at Chace Park in Marina Del Rey, California. The promotion featured a concert from La Santa Cecilia, and the band performed on a colorful, decorated boat.

Casual snacks accompanied the free-flowing Pepsi. At a nacho bar, guests could top corn tortilla chips with pico de gallo and cilantro.

Champagne label Veuve Clicquot hosted a promotion called "Yelloweek" in Toronto May 5 to 11. A kickoff party for the series of events was held at Thompson Rooftop Lounge on May 1. Bubbly was served on tray tables covered in grass and daisies. Melissa Andre Events handled production.

Hanging replicas of hot-air balloons also played into the whimsical decor.

Dressed in the brand's signature yellow-and-white hues, a ballerina entertained guests with impromptu performances on the rooftop.

To promote its newly redesigned website, Cheapflights.ca staged a public stunt on Queen Street West in Toronto on May 23. Staffers in branded T-shirts doled out 10,000 loonies (Canadian dollar coins) to passersby, who used the coins to play a game inspired by Plinko on an eight-foot-high board. The Mint Agency produced the event.







The invitational took place May 27 to 31 at Trump National Doral in Miami. The welcome dinner was held poolside and featured appetizers on a swing-set-like structure decked with patches of grass. The snacks represented the host cities of different Trump properties. New York, for example, came to life with a variety of miniature cheesecakes.

The closing-night party had a "Rock and Roll Circus" theme. Centerpieces combined musical instruments with arrangements of red roses.


The Bata Shoe Museum celebrated its 20th anniversary with a gala celebration on May 7 for 300 guests in Toronto. Fittingly, the event featured a shoe-theme sweets table.

The American Cancer Society hosted its Discovery Ball at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago on April 25. This year's theme had a futuristic overtone that inspired the look and feel of the 750-guest soiree. "During dinner, planes of light and hand-tied wire patterns that projected light striae ... visually transported guests into a future periphery," designer Rishi Patel of HMR Designs said.

This year's "Give Kids the World" benefit took place at the Hyatt Regency Orlando in May and had an "Under the Big Top" theme. For dessert, executive pastry chef Alain Vergnault put together a confection that combined caramel apple cake, cotton candy, and soft-serve-style vanilla crème fraîche.

On June 5, Chicago celebrated the opening of the 606, a public, elevated trail along a former railway, with a gala that paid homage to the host city. Limelight Catering serviced the event. Menu items included a first course of hanging flatbreads in two flavors: herb and olive oil and three cheese. The dish incorporated onions from an Illinois farm and cheeses from Wisconsin.

In Toronto, the Luminato Festival kicked off with an opening-night party at Hearn Generating Station on June 18. The event's theme was "Nature Versus Industry." To play off the former concept, guests participated in a D.I.Y. flower-press activity that let them take home framed flowers. Hot Pop Factory sponsored the crafty station.

Whole Foods' photo op let guests pose in bright frames that appeared to grow out of a garden box.


The Toyota Music tent also had a stage, where Lollapalooza bands such as Of Monsters and Men performed at intimate shows.

Toyota recently teamed up with VH1 Save the Music to produce a new activation and social media campaign, which launched at Lollapalooza. The activation featured a life-size glowing willow tree. On the tree, festivalgoers hung messages about what music meant to them. One person wrote: "Music is peace," while another message read: "Music helps me sleep." Many messages bore the hashtag of the new campaign: #ToyotaGiving. For every social media post regarding the activation, Toyota donated $1 to VH1 Save the Music.

On June 9, Disney and Pixar premiered Inside Out at the El Capitan Theatre. A whimsical entrance outfitted with the movie's title hung over a purple arrivals carpet.

The Los Angeles premiere of the new Fox horror-comedy Scream Queens took place September 21 at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre. The event decor was inspired by scenes and characters from the show, and bloody knives were placed inside table centerpieces.
