Lunch for Two: The famed Russian Tea Room reopened last October with four floors, as well as decorations—like the juggling bear—restored from its previous incarnation. Get comfortable in a shiny red booth in the dining room and sample the restaurant’s selection of caviar.
Drinks for Four: Try the eaux de vie (distilled spirits) at D’Or, the 4,000-square-foot subterranean bar and lounge beside the Dream Hotel. The lounge has a gold-faced bar and leather banquette seating; a mosaic tile staircase connects the space with Amalia, the restaurant above.A Private Dinner for 20: Chef Michael Psilakis and restaurateur Donatella Arpaia showcase Greek cuisine at Anthos, where the menu features specialties such as roasted sirloin with spanakopita, as well as an emphasis on fresh fish, like an olive-oil-poached John Dory. This fall, the 20-seat private room will be spiffed up with new carpet and furniture.
Cocktails for 100: The penthouse-level private room of new Times Square venue Spotlight Live is large enough for a 100-person reception (maximum capacity is 175). Like the rest of the space, this room has tech equipment including audiovisual gear, as well as access to a private recording booth and an outdoor terrace on the same floor. A minimum of 50 guests is required to book the space.
