After months of buzz, Rockit Ranch Productions opened Sunda in River North on Monday. With a cocktail lounge, a sushi bar, and a private dining room, the New Asian restaurant can host seated dinners for 126 guests and receptions for 300.
For smaller groups, two communal tables offer seating for 14 to 32; the lounge can host receptions for 40; and the private Veranda room seats 24 and accommodates 30 for cocktails. Planners may choose to mix and match spaces by hosting cocktails in the Veranda room and dinner in the main dining room—this option is suited to groups of 30 or fewer.
Nicknamed "the Food Buddha," executive chef Rodelio Aglibot oversees Sunda's menu. For private dinners, a prix-fixe option features family-style portions of sushi, hot and cold appetizers, and main courses such as Thai fried chicken. Reception fare can include passed sushi rolls, appetizers such as lemongrass beef lollipops, and specialty drinks like the Toasted Ginger Snap.
For events, Rockit Ranch's in-house team works with preferred vendors who can supply everything from ice sculptures to entertainment and audiovisual equipment.
