The Lamont Bishop Gallery opened earlier this month near Mount Vernon Square. Focusing on urban contemporary art, the new gallery’s design takes inspirations from its showpieces with the inclusion of a fully stocked, built-in bar, lending itself to hosting private events.
The 1,200-square-foot space is comprised of two galleries accommodating as many as 200 people throughout. For seated dinners, Gallery A can host about 60, with an additional 25 in nearby Gallery B. An additional 80 and 35 people can be accommodated in each space, respectively, for cocktail parties.
The rooms can also be arranged for meetings or presentations with Gallery A seating 77 in a theater setup and Gallery B accommodating groups of 33. The venue is also equipped with a built-in sound system.
The venue’s built-in bar in Gallery B—dubbed ArtBar—comes complete with a fully stocked liquor selection and beer tap. Beginning May, ArtBar will be the exclusive carrier and distributor of California-based Wooden Bottle Wine in the metro area. Both cash-bar and open-bar event packages are available with the venue rental.
The exhibits will rotate monthly to showcase urban pop surrealist art from emerging national and international artists.
